## Game over music

The game-over card's music (Gyan's ask 2026-10-07: "play some proper game over music" — an Indian sad tune):
a `sting` as the card comes up, then the `loop` softly under it until Wahin se / Naya safar (`src/game/overMusic.js`,
on EngineAudio's music bus, past the crash muffle). All are real CC0 recordings from Freesound, played as recorded —
only cut, faded and levelled. Loaded only once a game over starts.

| File | Source | Author | Licence | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| `sting-0.mp3` | [816126 — "sarangi2"](https://freesound.org/people/sarman1234/sounds/816126/) | sarman1234 | [CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/) | Sarangi, a live player on a mic: a bowed phrase that climbs with meend, hangs, then slides down chromatically (E-D-C#-C-B) and dies on a held note. The classic tragic-scene instrument; the default. (7.35–14.4 s; default until Gyan picks, 2026-10-07, A/B A) |
| `loop-0.mp3` | [339970 — "Sitar.wav"](https://freesound.org/people/Toni_Quiroga/sounds/339970/) | Toni_Quiroga | [CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/) | Sitar, a friend playing in his room (H4N): a slow, sparse alap over the sympathetic-string drone - a few meends, long rings, nothing busy. Long enough not to feel looped; the seam sits in a quiet stretch. Default. (loop 4.3–42.26 s; default until Gyan picks, 2026-10-07, A/B A) |

Licence checked on each sound's Freesound page (all show "Creative Commons 0") when the A/B set was
made (design/…-ab/README.txt; the A/B sets are local only, never shipped).

**Edits made** (`sox` + `lame`, from each sound's Freesound HQ preview MP3; no pitch, EQ or other processing): the
**sting** is one phrase cut out, 5 ms fade-in / a slow fade-out on its last note, levelled, 44.1 kHz, 128 kbps MP3
(stereo kept where the recording is stereo). The **loop** is a stretch cut where the end joins the start, the seam
cross-faded (equal power), levelled quieter than the sting, 128 kbps MP3; the game crossfades the seam again
(synth.buildSeamlessLoop).
